Datrex Food Ration Bars are excellent tasting and are ideal for emergency reserves, survival kits, earthquake 72 hour kits, and of course, life rafts. Quality I found a package of these, manufactured in November 1992. and opened in May 2011. Still tasted as above, although I can't verify any specific nutrition value. These would still provide most of the sustenance stated per above.
When opened, there was a bit of grease, as it appeared to have leaked a bit,
but the bars still did not taste rancid at all.
(not certain about the storage, but probably in a suburban garage in Southern California for the majority of that time, with temperatures ranging from about 32 degrees to about 110 degrees, averaging about 75.) (Posted on 5/22/11)
