The Katadyn TRK Gravidyn Drip Filter is the easiest way to produce safe drinking and cooking water, indoors or out!. Uses gravity pressure to produce up to 13 gallons of crystal clear water per day (for up to a total of 39,000 gallons depending on water quality).
Water drips from the upper compartment to the lower compartment via THREE 0.2 micron ceramic filters. The Katadyn TRK Gravidyn Drip Filter comes with three ceramic filter elements with inner core of permanently sealed-in activated carbon. The activated carbon reduces chemicals and makes the water taste better.
Katadyn recommends that the GRAVIDYN filter elements be rotated after approximately 6 months if continuously used daily. If used occasionally or for emergency backup or camping, simply air dry elements between uses. No need to change elements until the filters have been used for over 180 days of total filtering. The outer ceramic part of the element though will still filter up to 13,000 gallons.
We are often asked what the differences are between the GRAVIDYN and CERADYN Drip Filters. Essentially, they are both exactly the same except for the inner core of their filter elements, the rest is EXACTLY the same. The Gravidyn elements have an inner core of activated charcoal inside the elements to removed bad tastes, residual chemicals in the water and odors, as opposed to the Ceradyn elements which has a rock media inner core.
Most of our customers have chosen the Gravidyn version for the added benefit of charcoal filtering that gives the water a fresher and better taste. The Gravidyn's slight negative point is that it's inner charcoal element will last much less that the outer ceramic portion of the filter element. Katadyn recommends changing filter elements after approximately 6 months of continous use. For this reason, the Gravidyn Drip Filter cost about 15% less compared to the Ceradyn Drip Filter, making it, in most peoples minds, the better deal of the two. Either way, both are excellent filter units.
The Ceradyn filtration element for the Drip Filter offers Katadyn's proven ceramic technology. Microporous, silver incorporated CERAMIC with pore size of 0.2 micron, retains suspended matter, all harmful bacteria and parasites such as cryptosproidium and giardia. Essential minerals remain in the water.
Katadyn has long been supplier to the U.S. Armed Forces (Navy SEALS, Army Operations' Force, Marine Corps, etc.), the U.S. National Parks, Forest Service, International Red Cross, along with many other relief and government agencies worldwide.
Listed below are the Bacteria and Protozoa that are eliminated by the Katadyn Filters. Independent tests confirming the effectiveness and reliability of Katadyn filters have been conducted by university, government and independent laboratories in the U.S. and around the world.
I was stunned. No form, letter, or refusal to take back my item, just kindness and understanding...
"No, you don't understand. I broke it. It was my fault." The customer service woman said "Our Products don’t break..."
In a day where phrases like "100% guaranteed" and "hassle-free returns" don't mean much, I have to share my story.
