The MRE business has been tough for some time. Supplies have been very short. We work hard to provide our customers with all FRESH component MREs and meals (not old scraped together surplus or 2 to 3 year old stock found elsewhere). Remember, when the Hurricane, Tornado, Earthquake or Disaster warnings go out (or hit), the time to prepare is over, like trying to buy fire insurance when the house is on fire.

MREs, which stands for "Meals Ready to Eat", are the latest U.S. Military field rations (meals) that are perfect for short backpacking treks, campers, hunters, and emergency reserves. MREs were developed to be eaten anywhere, anytime.
How long will an MRE store for? MRE military entrees and side dishes will remain nutritionally good for approximately 5 to 8 years when stored at room temperature according to rigid military testing. We suggest storing them in a cool dry place, the same as with all food reserves to maximized their shelf-lives. Storage temperature DOES affect the shelf-life of MREs as well as ALL foods. Each meal comes packed in a rugged clear bag to protect each meal from the elements and provides convenient meal organization
Other components in each MRE meal will vary for shelf-life like crackers, candy and cookies. We have typically found these items still very good tasting after years of storage though sometimes harder or dryer but still very tasty to eat. Cracker spread will have a shorter shelf-life, around 2 years.

Military MRE Legal Update The government is cracking down on illegal sales of military issued MRE meals. The Military now requires all new cases of MREs to have plainly printed on the box: "U.S. GOVERNMENT, COMMERCIAL RESALE IS UNLAWFUL". Does this affect the commercial sale of military issued MREs? You bet. It is strictly again the law. For years, there has been a sort of 'black market' in MREs. Be careful when you buy MREs. Don't take chances on "Gun Show", or "off the street" MREs, besides being illegal to possess, they may not be edible to eat. We highly recommend that you never gamble with your food reserves. Play it safe. These are your 'insurance policy'. Know your source. Quality I just ate my first MRE and it was excellent. More than enough food to get me full. If you were hiking or camping and needed a full calorie load, it's all there in one pack. If you are in a power outage or other emergency situation where you are not burning a lot of calories, one meal has enough volume and calories that it could easily be split between two people.
