Ingredients: INGREDIENTS: RED BEANS, PRECOOKED LONG GRAIN WHITE RICE, TOMATO, ONION, POTATO STARCH, SALT, NEW MEXICO CHILI PEPPER, SUGAR, CORN STARCH, GARLIC, CUMIN SEED, OREGANO, CAYENNE PEPPER.
CONTAINS: Directions: To prepare 1 Cup Dry Mix: 1. Remove oxygen absorber from contents and discard. 2. Thoroughly mix contents. 3. Add 2 1/4 cup (540mL) of boiling water to 1 cup of dry ingredients. 4. Stir well, fully submerging ingredients. 5. Cover and let sit for 13 minutes. 6. Stir and serve. To prepare entire can: 1. Remove oxygen absorber from contents and discard. 2. Thoroughly mix contents. 3. Add 22 1/2 cups (5.3L) of boiling water to dry ingredients. 4. Follow Steps 4 through 6 above. NOTE:Rehydration time doubles every 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Our directions are set for 5,000 feet. |
Storage and HandlingDO NOT OPEN UNTIL READY TO SERVE The following storage instructions will ensure the maximum shelf life of this Backpacker's Pantry Product. Once the can is open, contents should be consumed within seven days. In between consumption, reclose the can with the plastic lid provided. Store at room temperature (70 degrees F) or below. The lower the temperature of storage, the longer the shelf life will be. Temperatures of freezing or lower (than 32 degrees F) should be avoided as it may affect the integrity of the can. Cans should be stored OFF the floor, in a dry, well-ventilated area. This package is sold by weight, not volume. Some settling may occur. Be sure to mix the contents of the can thoroughly before preparing to ensure the best flavor. |

Quality I bought this because I love red beans and rice. The taste was awesome...no disappoint here. I brought a sample to the office and a friend and I tried it. We both loved it and she will be ordering some for herself too.

Quality I ordered 2 #10 cans for our stockpile, and 2 pouches just to try it and see if it was really any good. I cooked up some smoked sausage and onions, then poured the water in the skillet, brought it to a boil, added the pouch, let sit for 15 minutes, and we had ONE HECK OF A GOOD DINNER. This stuff is GOOD. Oh yeh, it takes a few minutes for the very slight "bite" to sneak up on you. :) (Posted on 8/26/11)
