Ingredients:Cooked Beef (beef flavoring, salt), Enriched Macaroni (durum semolina enriched with niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), Kidney Beans, Tomato Paste, Chili Seasoning (chili pepper and other spices, dehydrated onion and garlic, hydrolyzed soy protein, potassium chloride, paprika, sugar, maltodextrin, beef extract, disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate, autolyzed yeast extract, caramel color, natural flavors, citric acid), Modified Corn Starch..
CONTAINS: Wheat, Soy. Directions: To prepare a single servings: 1. Mix can contents. 2. Bring ¾ cup* water to a boil 3. Remove from heat. 4. Add 1 cup dry mix. 5. Stir until mixed thoroughly. 6. Cover. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes. 7. Stir and serve.. *Add less water if a thicker consistency is desired. To prepare entire can: Add 8 cups (64 oz) boiling water to contents of can. Follow steps 5 through 7 above. NOTE: Oxygen removed by either nitrogen flushing or oxygen absorbers. Oxygen absorber not for human consumption. Discard packet immediately upon opening. |
Storage and HandlingDO NOT OPEN UNTIL READY TO USE It is necessary to store Mountain House products properly to ensure maximum shelf life. Store the product in a cool area, avoid long-term storage above 72 degrees F, and be careful to not puncture the cans. Under conditions, Mountain House meals will maintain its shelf life for product quality flavor and nutritional value. Once open, contents should be used immediately. However, product resealed used plastic recloseable lid has been found to be acceptable up to one week after opening. This package is sold by weight, not volume. Some settling may have occurred due to shipping, handling or variations in the product density. |

This was the first Mountain house product I actually opened and tested. It was much better then I expected. I have placed 4 separate orders now that were all shipped out with in 3 days, at the most from when the order was placed. I especially like the Nitro-Pak double box's everything so no one knows that your stocking up on supplies. and the never get beat up. I placed an order with a competitor (ready store) and they plaster their logo's and shipping contents details right on the outside of every box for everyone to see.

One of the positive aspects I have grown to love about Mountain House is the variety of dishes available. American stews, oriental fares, pasta dishes and more make the camp or survival meal a pleasant experience. This chili-mac is tasteful to a wide range of palates. We buy the pouches and prepare them prior to spending on # 10 cans and the family wanted multiple cans of this one. We've ordered this and other mountain house products in the past and they're amongst the best of their type. I know they're in high demand but even with the ever increasing stated delayed Nitro-pak has really dropped the ball. I have two orders of items, pouches some of which shipped other which have not, all of which were listed as being "in stock" at the time of purchase, none of which have shipped withing the time frame stated at the time of purchase. It's a problem having several hundred dollars in potential charges looming against accounts with no idea when they might suddenly appear and not being to reach customer service due to broken links. My customer service experience with Nitro-pak has gone from good to very poor. (Posted on 4/6/11)
